George Foreman, a two-time world heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medallist, died March 21. He was 76.

Foreman rose to global fame in the 1970s with his powerful punching style and undefeated streak. He won Olympic gold in 1968 and later became world heavyweight champion.

He is best remembered for his 1974 title defence against Muhammad Ali in the iconic “Rumble in the Jungle” held in Kinshasa, Zaire now the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The event was a cultural milestone for the sport and the continent, inspiring generations of African boxing fans.

The South Sudanese boxing community joins others around the world in mourning Foreman’s death and celebrating his enduring legacy.
